15th Annual
Backyard
Minibike
Party.
It was a wet, rainy weekend.
The night before the party, one of my longtime best pals, Kyle, and I headed over to Karl's to help clean up and get things ready for the 15th Annual Minibike Party. Not knowing what the weather would be like, we crossed our fingers for a break in the rain. Karl, always full of wild ideas, decided to build a ring of fire, and watching him pull that off was something else.
The minibike party kicked off at Karl's yard just as the rain stopped, leaving the ground in that perfect, slightly slick state that made for some wild riding. People from all over rolled in on their mini bikes, the yard buzzing with the hum of engines and excitement. With the rain keeping the dust down, the grass and dirt were ideal for a ton of slipping and sliding, adding to the thrill of tearing around the yard.
A live band set the mood, with The Vicious Cycles cranking out tunes while riders zipped around, laughing and skidding through the mud. Our friend Dan made sure the pulled pork was on point. He was up at the crack of dawn, smoking it to perfection. The smell of that pork was pure fuel for the night.
As night fell, the party hit a whole new level. The grand finale? Karl’s epic ring of fire! Riders took turns flying through it, cheered on by a rowdy crowd. It was pure adrenaline—a night of music, food, friends and minibike madness.
I snapped some photos and dodged a few close calls trying not to get run over.
Amazingly, no one got hurt, despite all the slipping and sliding.
